Corner castings or Corner fittings are the corners of an ISO shipping container. They are the structural element allowing a shipping container to be connected to: (1) other containers both horizontally and vertically, and (2) transport modes including ship, rail, and road. In addition, corner castings allow shipping containers to be picked up and moved around as required.
Our container corner fittings are manufactured in accordance with approval certificates by Lloyd's Register and Bureau Veritas. Made from carbon steel material ASTM A27 Grade 70-36, our corner castings meet ISO 1161 requirements for ISO shipping containers. 
A standard 96' wide ISO container uses 8 corner castings consisting of:

The top corner fitting has an Acorn shape side hole whereas that of the bottom corner fitting is a semicircle. Such shape and dimensions are dictated by ISO 1161.
All 8 corner castings of an 96' wide ISO container or a corresponding CTU have to be particularly strong. They work with the corner posts and the other basic components of the container frame to absorb the forces that locking units or lashings exert when containers are stacked on top of one another, and during handling and transport.
